Tragic Magic: The Silver Potato Heads of Paris...



... Are sadly not there any more. But what could be more magical than eight feet tall silver potato heads with teeth?
We saw them at the Tuileries in Paris, where they were part of a temporary exhibition: Sunrise East by Ugo Rondinone between September and November 2009. more about him at this address. There were twelve, positioned in a circle around the fountain.

We can attest to the magical nature of these handsome vegetables: my youngest, clowning around as children will, slipped his hand into one of the mouths and had it tragically bitten off:

This happened also to Cary Grant in Roman Holiday,  But in his case the eaten appendage swiftly regrew. We are still hoping...
